New: CatSlapper 1.0:

CatSlapper provides a front end for configuring, installing, and managing multiple instances of Jakarta Tomcat.

So people I know that use Tomcat, are command line wonks, but the interface is nice and it seems like a good tool

The Elements of Typographic Style Applied to the Web:

Richard Rutter’s Bringhurst-inspired “practical guide to web typography”. Rutter introduces it on his weblog. (Via Jason Santa Maria.)

This is a good read, and worth studying. I read it and though it for the most part seems obvious the thinking is worth it. Can’t wait to revisit it as it grows…. I with more apps had this kind of thought. (Even Client apps…)

What is it?

Beginner’s Guide to SEO: SEO stands for “Search Engine Optimization.” This is a very comprehensive guide to understanding the process and strategies of optimizing a web site for search engines.

Why is it the killerest?

It’s very thorough and an excellent resource for learning about SEO - it includes up-to-date information, tips, tricks, and resources. This guide isn’t your standard smoke-and-promises SEO claptrap, this is good info. It comes in 3 formats; downloadable MS Word, multi-page online and single page versions.

How much does it cost?

Free

Worth reading… Don’t know plan to come back later. Is it a topic worth researching, yes. This might be a good place to start…

P+C DTR - PHP & CSS Dynamic Text Replacement

p>ArtyPapers.com: P+C DTR - PHP & CSS Dynamic Text Replacement:

In this post on ArtyPapers.com today, there’s information about a new tool that allows the creation of PHP & CSS dynamic text replacement - P+C DTR.

PHP + CSS Dynamic Text Replacement is a JavaScript-free version of the Dynamic Text Replacement method originally created by Stewart Rosenberger.

P+C DTR allows you to take a vanilla standards-based (X)HTML web page and dynamically create images to replace and enhance page headings using only PHP + CSS. Sick of using the same three fonts? Tired of editing heading images in PhotoShop? If so, P+C DTR might be for you.

Interesting trick, but must be a performance hit on busy servers.

Ken Rockwell:

“Your equipment DOES NOT affect the quality of your image. The less time and effort you spend worrying about your equipment the more time and effort you can spend creating great images. The right equipment just makes it easier, faster or more convenient for you to get the results you need.”

Disk Inventory X 1.0:

Tjark Derlien’s excellent freeware Disk Inventory X is now at version 1.0:

Disk Inventory X is a disk usage utility for Mac OS X 10.3 (and later). It shows the sizes of files and folders in a special graphical way called “treemaps”.

If you’ve ever wondered were all your disk space has gone, Disk Inventory X will help you to answer this question.

Highly recommended.

This is cool, useful maybe, but for visual data display, cool
