Eric Rice spies the water line…:

Eric Rice spies the water line in some of the New Orleans pictures. It’s amazing how the eye doesn’t see it for a while, and then you see it all over the place.

Linked pictures really show the line on the buildings and homes

Spam Recipes in Gmail

Spam Recipes in Gmail:

Google thinks they’re funny. Every time I go back to that spam mailbox, a different recipe for spam is shown up there at the top of the message list. Any other mailbox just (seems to) shows random items from the rss feeds I’ve chosen, but that mailbox always shows spam recipes.

You have to go to Seth’s page and see the image, it’s a crack up. By the way Seth, I get recipes too.

Aperture 1.0 Review Follow-Up:

More on Aperture from Dave Girard at Ars Technica.

Good follow up on Ars earlier article, particular good pages are 3 with sample RAW conversions (note saturation push from CI Image) Discussion section should have good conversations as time goes on as well

Angry and nice:

angry and nice face

Look at the image above. On the left you see an angry man. On the right a nice woman. Now stand up from you chair and take several steps back. The nice woman is now on the left and the angry man is on the right. Can you tell me how this is done?

You may also want to check out the amazingly dissapearing purple dot and Boring’s beautiful illustration.

Ok that is spooky

Spring and DWR integration:

Dejan Bosanac recently posted about integrating Spring and with the Java ajax library DWR. His entry builds upon previous work done by Bram Smeets, and Bram actually comments on some possible improvements to Dejan’s setup.

Bram is also working on doing full Spring integration for DWR 2.0, which will allow two nice features: using the Spring IoC container to configure DWR, removing the need for dwr.xml. Also, a DWR controller will be available for those using Spring MVC, so features like localization will be easiliy available without extra work.

See also Matt Raible’s integration of DWR + script.aculo.us with Appfuse, and our ealier post on Matt enjoying DWR.

Revolutionary new chip delivers better pictures

Revolutionary new chip delivers better pictures:

Two professors at the University of Rochester in New York have designed a prototype CMOS chip that uses a fraction of the energy used today, capture better images and run for years on a single battery. Mark Bocko, professor of electrical and computer engineering, and assistant Zeljko Ignjatovic are also working to incorporate further technology that will compress the image with far fewer computations than current compression techniques. It’s likely that the technology will be tested first in wireless…

Wanted - Spec Owner:

Everyone thinks the detailed spec is a great idea, and it really is. There’s just two problems — no one wants to write them, and no one wants to read them.

[snip]

Which process is working best for your team? Have you mastered the spec process, and if so, how?

Read the rest some good points, and the picture is funny too.
