Apple Dev Tech, Code Development

Lab Setup Whitepaper:
A very extensive guide to how to setup up a student computing lab on OS X 10.3.Emil Lundberg of Uppsala University has done an incredible job of documenting what he’s down in his environment. Grab his case study in the downloads section.
Good information if you are planning on setting up a lab in an education setting. I think it is STUPID not to think about what one is doing when setting up a lab in a school setting. If all you are doing is setting up the machines in a default setting with two users or more users like Student and Admin, you are setting yourself up for more work and lots of headaches, this is a NEW OS don’t make the same decisions you did with os 9 or windows. THINK DIFFERENT!

So what I think is interesting is this. MicroSoft will be running the Xbox on PPC and Apple and Intel are talking about something, that much is clear. There is no reason that I can see that Mac OS X can’t run on x88 based chips (I’m not talking about all the apps right now) heck I don’t think many would argue that Apple already has it running there.
So what do I think (granted I know nothing, I know nobody and this opinion is worth nothing
- Windows media edition will run on a ppc based machine before the end of 2006
- a version of the mac os x will be released on an intel produced chip
- Apple will get a tablet out the door
- Steve Jobs is pissed that the xbox has a faster advertised PPC chip then any apple product
- monday will be a good first keynote at WWDC for me.

Behind the Algorithmic Facade at Google:
I (and others) have long suspected that human editors are involved in tweaking Google search results. Thanks to a Dutch investigative reporter, search expert, and blogger, here’s a first look at how these cloaked Google agents work: what they are called, how they are hired, the software they use, and what they accomplish.
I find this interesting only as far as the ui stuff, the video seems so clunky, I can’
t imagine that it lets them get a whole lot done. Makes me think there is something fishy about it. Or old…
