The drama of a coffee maker

So this morning my coffee maker exploded. Really, it made a loud pop and there was water everywhere, there were small parts in the reservoir and a fine grit in the water on the floor. Now this was a ‘Free’ coffee maker, got it from Gavalia which I joined just long enough to get the coffee maker. Does any one have any recomendations for a guy who likes coffee, and most of the time makes just a couple of cups but sometimes when family is in town needs to make a bunch?

A great knife sharpening tutorial from eGullet

A great knife sharpening tutorial from eGullet:

I’d noticed my chef’s knife was seeming a little dull, and was thinking I should probably sharpen it when I stumbled across this excellent eGullet post about Knife Maintenance and Sharpening. It’s so in-depth that I didn’t so more than skim it yet, but looks like a great resource for sharpening. Now to find the time to read the whole thing before I sit down with my stone and get back knife back to proper sharpness.

Dead Simple Deployment

Dead Simple Deployment:

Dead Simple Deployment: I am very impressed with this setup and it consumes very little resources. Pen is the fastest, lightest HTTP load balancer that can be a front end for https as well, that I could find for free. Its about 5-10% faster then balance and pound in my tests. And I am getting better performance with this setup then I do with lighttpd->standalone fcgi listeners on my macbook. [—]
